The Free 52 Project {August}

I knew when I joined this awesome group of freelensing ladies I was going to enjoy every minute of it even if I didn't enjoy every image I took.  I have been shooting freelensed images every week and it seems to be those images that get my creative mojo moving.  August is the start of my busy season shooting clients, everything from seniors, to families, weddings....I like to include freelensed images for them too.  When I started this project, I knew I wanted to keep it personal.  So this month will actually only be two days.

Every August we head out on our last family get away for the summer.  It's always the same because my husband and I wanted to make sure we started some traditions for our little family.  The kind of tradition where the years blend together so the memory of it is mushed all into one giant ball of emotions and senses.   Where one year can't be distinguished from the other.  It's our annual trip up the north shore of Lake Superior.

Our first stop, the Wisconsin side....

To be honest we could have camped out here all day then turned around and headed home.  The boys found so many beach treasures, bark binoculars, sea glass, agates, a giant railroad spike....  I don't know if you've ever felt the water of the Great Lakes but it's not exactly warm.  They boys don't seem to mind.

After a full day of beach combing, waterfall hunting, and big ship watching we finally made to our destination in Lutsen.  This place is like a throw back to when families would spend weeks at summer resorts.  Shuffle boards, checkers and cribbage in the lounge, fly fishing lessons, The building it's self has not changed much at all.

The beaches here are rocky, filled with a little boys dreams of the rock collection he is going to take home.  We love to agate hunt and even have our mason jars of agates labeled from year to year scattered through our home.

The thing about the north shore is you never know what the weather will be.  Even if you look at the 10day outlook, it will be different.  We always keep our fingers crossed that it will cooperate but, honestly, it never seems to disappoint, even when it doesn't.  Our first few days were beautiful.  Big waves, a give of sunshine, decent temps.

It seems another summer has gotten away from us.  School starts this week for the boys, my husband and I are in the full swing of our work/jobs (though I don't consider mine a "job"), and the neighborhood has quieted down.  I look forward to what this year will bring.

On a side note, do you think they purposefully make the front of these look like smilie faces?  So what ever is staring back at you knows your happy?

Be sure to go checkout the other beautiful freelensed images.  It's a circle, so once  you get back here you know you've reached them all.  Up next: KATIE WOODARD PHOTOGRAPHY
