August always starts with birthdays. My husbands followed by my youngest's. This year we headed to Grandma and Papa's house for arcades, bike rides and kayaking.

We always stop at the Gouda Cheese farm. The love watching the cows being milk and the cheese being made. I really love the cheese ;)

Then there is the end cap to our summer, our annual trip up the North Shore of Lake Superior. It's a sad but favorite trip for our family. No technology, just books, shuffle board, chess, fly fishing, and of course agate hunting. We hit the mother load this year with agates.

This is the first year we made it all the way out to the light house. I was just waiting for one of the boys to fall down into the large gaps in the sea wall.

Then we made a quick trip to see an old college friend and spend the day hiking back to some falls in one of our wonderful WI State Parks.
